To the Fertile Fifth Episcopal District -- Presiding Elders, Pastors, Clergy and Laity:
I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We had recently completed the third round of Annual Conferences, beginning in the Pacific Northwest and concluding here in Missouri Conference with pastors and laity alike declaring that God has moved in powerful ways -- God's wonder to perform.
Mrs. Kirkland and I think God for you -- for your fearless witness, faithfulness, under circumstances that only God fearing people could function, and forthrightness in ministry with and for those to whom we in African Methodist, have been committed to serve for 223 years. When we think of how God has guided our steps, bless our labors, and now anoints our work; we feel truly blessed -- yet the awareness that God is not through with us yet, inspires us to go the next mile.
During this year, we must be mindful of the people who are suffering the harsh economic times through job loss, and foreclosures. Galatians 6:9 reminds us. Let us not become weary in well doing, for at the proper time. We will reap a harvest if we do not give up. As we work together as an army of disciples -- the change agents of our times: we will be able to give evidence of our harvests in our homes, our communities and through out the world. With the involvement of every member of this great district: it has not yet been revealed, what God has in store.
May God's Richest Blessings Be Yours,
Bishop T. Larry Kirkland Senior
